We perform rigorous health testing to ensure our breeding dogs are in excellent health. This helps us start with a strong foundation by selecting dogs with the best results, ensuring happy and healthy puppies for our families.
DNA Testing
At Bear-y Cute Bernedoodles, every breeding dog is DNA tested to ensure they’re free from inherited diseases that could affect their puppies. This testing checks for a wide range of genetic conditions found in both Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles - such as degenerative myelopathy, Von Willebrand’s disease, and certain coat and colour genes. By understanding each dog’s genetic profile, we can make thoughtful breeding choices that promote healthy, happy puppies for life.
Heart Testing
We take heart health seriously. Each of our breeding dogs has their heart examined by a qualified veterinarian to rule out congenital or hereditary heart issues such as murmurs or structural abnormalities. Healthy hearts mean our Bernedoodles have the best start possible - full of energy, love, and longevity. It’s one of the ways we make sure our dogs are not just beautiful, but strong and sound.
Hip & Elbow Scoring
Joint health is essential for large-breed crosses like Bernedoodles. Before breeding, all our dogs are hip and elbow scored through accredited veterinary screening (such as PennHIP or AVA). These tests help identify any signs of dysplasia or poor joint formation that could cause discomfort or mobility issues later in life. Only dogs with excellent joint health are used in our program, helping ensure strong, active puppies who can enjoy life to the fullest.
Eye Testing
Eyes tell us so much about a dog’s health - and we make sure ours are clear and bright. Our breeding dogs undergo eye examinations by certified specialists to screen for hereditary eye conditions like cataracts, PRA (progressive retinal atrophy), and other vision concerns. Clear eye results help guarantee that our Bernedoodle puppies will grow up with healthy vision and the same bright, loving gaze their parents have.
Raising Confident, Well-Rounded Puppies
At Bear-y Cute Bernedoodles, we believe that the first eight weeks of a puppy’s life are the most important. That’s why we’ve developed our own carefully designed puppy program, blending the best elements of the Puppy Culture and Empowered Breeder methods. This unique approach focuses on confidence, resilience, and emotional balance - helping every puppy grow into their best self.
From day one, our puppies are gently introduced to the world through early neurological stimulation (ENS), early scent introduction (ESI), and daily handling. As they grow, we gradually expose them to new sights, sounds, textures, and experiences in positive, age-appropriate ways. This builds strong, curious, and adaptable minds.
We also include structured confidence-building and problem-solving activities, helping our pups learn how to think, explore, and recover from small challenges. This foundation creates puppies who are not just cute - but calm, brave, and emotionally intelligent.

Introduction of Daily Household Noises
We gently introduce puppies to everyday sounds like vacuums, dishwashers, TVs and more so they grow up feeling confident and secure in a normal home environment.
Our 10-StepHandling Technique
Each day, we calmly work through ten different touches - including paws, ears, mouth, and tail - to ensure your puppy becomes comfortable with grooming and vet visits in life.
Puppy Care
From gentle daily handling to introducing everyday sounds, we prepare your puppy to feel confident, calm, and well-adjusted. Regular grooming and coat care routines also keep them looking and feeling their best - happy, healthy, and ready for cuddles!

About Us
We're Cam & Angie. With years of dedicated experience as passionate breeders, we began our journey with Brisbane Cavoodles, where we built a strong reputation for raising loving, well-socialised dogs in a family environment.
Over time, we've successfully transitioned to specialising in Bernedoodles (cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle), drawing on our proven expertise to continue breeding out of pure love and commitment.
We live in a gorgeous country home surrounded by lush green acres, where our dogs are brought up by our family, immersed by care and attention. Building on our history with Cavoodles, we transitioned to breeding Bernedoodles to create family therapy dogs that heal hearts and bring joy.
